Getting pushed out — not of the USAID-funded project we are implementing, where I only work part-time, but of the organisation I helped start and built from the ground up — via a dry, cold boring-ass “Please see attached.” email with a PDF of the termination notice on a Saturday at 3 am, while in the middle of navigating a personal situation (family member with cancer) and still clocking ungodly amount of hours, was not on my 2025 bingo card. But here we are. People are capable of horrible things — even the ones (we thought) we knew and stood side by side and shoulder to shoulder against injustices and inequalities for a good half a decade. So take care of yourselves. And watch your backs, and fronts, and sides. If you don’t speak up, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it. There is life after leaving toxic relationships and workplaces.
Very true! Better lies ahead!💪🏾
